Caritas Valvuthayam Strengthens Farmer Households Through Capacity-Building

Caritas Valvuthayam’s Food Security Unit, with the support of Caritas Norway, conducted Capacity-Building Workshops for Farmer Households in Konnayankudiyiruppu (10:00 am) and Thoddaveli (2:30 pm) Workshops on March 19, 2025. These sessions aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of local farmers, equipping them with sustainable agricultural practices.

Key Highlights of the Workshop

Expert-Led Training: A Subject Matter Officer (SMO) and Agricultural Instructor (AI) led interactive sessions, providing valuable insights into organic farming and compost-making techniques.

Hands-On Learning: Farmers participated in PowerPoint presentations and practical demonstrations, gaining firsthand experience in sustainable farming methods to improve soil fertility and crop productivity.

Community Engagement: A total of 87 farmer beneficiaries attended—45 in Konnayankudiyiruppu and 42 in Thoddaveli, alongside the Area Field Officer, SMO, and AI, ensuring strong collaboration between agricultural experts and local farmers.

By empowering small-scale farmers with knowledge and skills in organic farming, Caritas Valvuthayam is promoting food security, enhancing livelihoods, and supporting eco-friendly agricultural practices in rural communities.
