As part of its commitment to promoting sustainable livelihoods, Caritas Valvuthayam, through its Food Security Project, conducted a Beekeeping Training session in Asikkulam village, Vavuniya District.
The training was facilitated by an experienced Agricultural Instructor (AI) who introduced participants to the basics of apiculture, including bee colony management, hive maintenance, and honey extraction techniques. Beekeeping offers not only a source of income but also plays a vital role in enhancing pollination and biodiversity.
A total of 22 participants attended the session, including 2 men and 20 women, reflecting growing interest among rural women in exploring alternative income-generating opportunities.
This training marks another milestone in empowering communities to become self-reliant through eco-friendly and economically viable practices.
