As part of its continued commitment to promoting health and food security at the grassroots level, Caritas Valvuthayam’s Food Security Project successfully conducted a Family Nutrition Program in Asikkulam village, Vavuniya.
The session, led by the Public Health Midwife (PHM) for the area, focused on providing families with practical guidance on balanced diets, child nutrition, and the use of locally available food resources to improve overall household well-being.
A total of 21 community members (Male: 3, Female: 18) participated in the program, reflecting a strong interest in enhancing family health and nutrition awareness.
Participants learned valuable techniques for:
- Preparing nutrient-rich meals with affordable local ingredients
- Feeding practices for children and family members
- Understanding the role of nutrition in long-term health and development
Caritas Valvuthayam continues to support empowered, informed families who are at the heart of building healthier and more resilient communities.
