Caritas Valvuthayam Empowers Students with Emotional Literacy at Annual Christmas Gathering

On December 9, 2024, Caritas Valvuthayam’s Educational Assistance Unit successfully hosted its annual Christmas gathering, combined with an impactful awareness program for students. The event brought together 96 school students, who are beneficiaries of Caritas Valvuthayam’s ongoing educational assistance initiatives.

The highlight of the day was an engaging awareness session on “Emotional Literacy and Life Skills,” led by Mr. Remegius from the Divisional Secretariat Office in Madhu. Through interactive discussions and activities, the session aimed to equip students with critical skills to navigate life’s challenges, foster emotional intelligence, and cultivate resilience. This holistic approach reflects Caritas Valvuthayam’s commitment to nurturing not only the academic but also the emotional and social development of young minds.

As part of the program, we delivered essential learning materials, including exercise books, to all 96 students receiving educational support through Caritas Valvuthayam. This provision underscores our dedication to supporting students’ educational journeys and enabling them to thrive in their studies.

The program was made possible by the generous support of Caritas Korea, whose unwavering funding and partnership continue to empower the youth in the Mannar and Vavuniya districts. Their contribution played a vital role in creating a nurturing environment where students could learn, grow, and celebrate the spirit of the season.

Beyond the educational component, the event radiated joy and unity, reinforcing the values of compassion, peace, and togetherness that define the Christmas season. The gathering concluded with festive celebrations, leaving the students with cherished memories and a renewed sense of hope and motivation.
