Caritas Sri Lanka Hosts Connect and Engage Communication Workshop

Caritas Sri Lanka hosted the Connect and Engage Communication Workshop, an innovative event held on the 4th and 5th of July 2024 at the CSL Auditorium. This new initiative, generously funded by AGIAMONDO, brought together DC-level communication focal points, active youth, and several seminarians from St. Aloysius Minor Seminary – Colombo, for two days of immersive learning and skill development. We are proud to announce that two staff members from Caritas Valvuthayam participated in this enriching experience.

The workshop commenced with an engaging session led by Mr. Prasad Purnamal, a seasoned BBC reporter with 15 years of experience in journalism. His expertise in Mobile Journalism (MOJO) captivated the audience as he introduced them to the dynamic world of mobile reporting. Participants, including our Caritas Valvuthayam representatives, were excited to learn about capturing action photos and videos, utilizing cutting-edge apps for editing, and creating compelling stories. Mr. Prasad’s session was informative and highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in practical exercises to sharpen their newfound skills.

The second day of the workshop focused on the ever-evolving digital communication landscape. Mr. Paduma Madushanka Wijewikrama, the CEO of Business Third Eye and a renowned digital marketing strategist and consultant, took the stage to share his insights. His session provided an in-depth understanding of social media, covering crucial aspects such as content creation, audience engagement, and effective page management. Participants, including our team from Caritas Valvuthayam, learned how to craft engaging content, maintain a strong social media presence, and utilize various platforms to amplify their message.

The CSL Connect and Engage Communication Workshop 2024 was marked by enthusiastic participation and collaboration. Participants, including those from Caritas Valvuthayam, were eager to absorb the knowledge shared by the experts and apply it to their respective roles. The interactive nature of the sessions ensured that participants left with practical skills and a renewed sense of confidence in their communication abilities.

This successful event underscored the importance of continuous learning and adaptation in the field of communication. By equipping its members with the latest tools and strategies, Caritas Sri Lanka is assured to enhance its outreach and impact. The workshop not only provided valuable insights but also fostered a sense of community and shared purpose among the participants.

As Caritas Sri Lanka looks to the future, initiatives like the CSL Connect and Engage Communication Workshop will be significant in strengthening our mission and amplifying our voice. Caritas Valvuthayam extends its heartfelt gratitude to the AGIAMONDO team for their generous support and to the distinguished speakers for their invaluable contributions. We are proud of our staff’s involvement in this transformative event and look forward to implementing the skills learned to benefit our community.
