As part of its commitment to improving community health and child development, Caritas Valvuthayam, under its Food Security Project, organized a Nutrition Awareness Program for mothers in Koorai village, located in the Manthai West Division of Mannar.
This important session was led by the Public Health Midwife (PHM) of Manthai West, who provided practical, hands-on training to participating mothers. The session focused on:
- Preparing balanced, nutritious meals using locally available ingredients
- Proper feeding techniques for young children
- The role of nutrition in early childhood development and long-term well-being
A total of 26 mothers took part in the program, demonstrating strong community interest in ensuring a healthier future for their children through improved food practices at home.
This initiative reflects Caritas Valvuthayam’s holistic approach to food security, combining agriculture, nutrition, and education to uplift vulnerable families across the Mannar District.
“Healthy mothers build healthy communities.”
