As part of its ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability and community ownership, Caritas Valvuthayam’s Food Security Project supported a meaningful tree planting initiative in Asikulam village, Vavuniya.
On this special day, members of the Asikulam Self-Help Group (SHG), with the active support of the Food Security team, came together to plant 22 shade trees around the village temple. These trees will not only provide much-needed shade but also enhance the natural beauty and ecological balance of the village environment.
This initiative reflects the deep-rooted community spirit and environmental awareness being nurtured through the Food Security Project. Planting trees near the temple also symbolizes a commitment to protect both nature and sacred community spaces for future generations.
“Planting trees today, for a cooler and greener tomorrow.”
Caritas Valvuthayam continues to encourage grassroots efforts that build resilience, environmental consciousness, and collective responsibility within local communities.
