As part of its commitment to promoting child health and food security, Caritas Valvuthayam’s Food Security Project organized a Nutrition Awareness Program at Vikneshwara Preschool in Manipuram, Vavuniya.
This impactful session was specially designed for preschool children and their parents, aiming to build knowledge around healthy eating habits, child nutrition, and the use of locally available food to support early childhood development.
The program was expertly facilitated by a Public Health Midwife, who provided practical, hands-on guidance on:
- Preparing nutritious meals at home
- Age-appropriate feeding techniques
- The importance of balanced diets in boosting children’s growth and immunity
A total of 23 parents participated in the session 22 mothers and 1 father demonstrating the community’s strong commitment to improving the well-being of their children through informed practices.
This program is part of a larger effort by Caritas Valvuthayam to empower families, reduce childhood malnutrition, and foster healthy communities across the Mannar and Vavuniya districts.
Healthy children mean a healthier tomorrow and Caritas Valvuthayam is proud to support parents with the knowledge and tools to make that future possible.
