Promoting Sustainable Living: School Garden Awareness Program in Vavuniya

As part of its commitment to food sustainability and environmental education, Caritas Valvuthayam’s Food Security Project conducted a School Awareness and Garden Promotion Program at Kanesapuram Vinayagar Vidyalayam in Vavuniya.

The program, led by our Agriculture Instructor (AI), aimed to raise awareness among young learners about the importance of home gardening, organic food production, and environmental responsibility.

A total of 50 students and teachers actively participated, engaging in interactive sessions and practical demonstrations on how to start and maintain a school garden.

This initiative not only nurtures knowledge about sustainable food systems but also instills responsibility and teamwork among schoolchildren. Caritas Valvuthayam continues to inspire the younger generation to become caretakers of the environment and champions of food security in their communities.
