Caritas-Valvuthayam in order to create public awareness towards green nature organized a tree planting program at Vamathevapuram Hindu temple premises in Manthai West DS division, Mannar on 08th of September 2022 at 10.00am. There were many preschool children, Inter Religious Forum members and the members of the project team. Rev.Fr.A.Victor Sosai, the Acting Director of Caritas-Valvuthayam, Rev.Saththiyanantha Sarma the chief incumbent of Sri Muthumariamman Temple, Vamathevapuram, Moulavi Muhamad Niroshan and Mr.Loganathan, the Gramaniladhari graced the occasion. The Hindu priest while addressing the assembly explained the connectivity between trees and humanity.
Rev.Fr.Victor Sosai the acting director of Caritas-Valvuthayam in his speech said that the tree planting event is a sign of nature care. God has blessed the humanity with awesome benefits through nature. One of the main reasons for the climate change is the human act of deforestation. Tree planting program is a suitable and timely needed action of our time to minimize the effects of climate change. He concluded saying, ‘the effort taken by Caritas-Valvuthayam to plant the trees in the premise of a Hindu temple is an outstanding life example of religious amity in the region’.
Finally, the guests, preschool children and all members planted the trees in the premises of Hindu temple. The involvement/participation of preschool children in the event was a means of promoting the sense of nature care among children from their childhood. It was successfully completed with the participation of all the members gathered for the event.
