Caritas Sri Lanka Facilitates Evaluation of Caritas Valvuthayam’s CBR Project in Mannar Diocese

Caritas Sri Lanka recently arranged a thorough evaluation of Caritas Valvuthayam’s Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) project, covering the period from April 2020 to December 2023. The evaluation took place on June 24th and 25th, 2024, at the Mannar Diocese of Caritas Valvuthayam and extended to the target villages in Manthai West.

This evaluation was conducted by Mrs. Sahunthala, an external evaluator, who meticulously assessed various aspects of the project. The evaluation process involved interviews and assessments with key stakeholders, including the Director, Project Coordinator, Field Officer, and CBR workers. Additionally, beneficiaries, including children with disabilities, as well as SHG (Self-Help Group) members, were also evaluated to gauge the impact of the project on their lives.

Other important stakeholders such as Social Service Officers (SSO), school principals, special education teachers, Grama Niladhari (village administrative officers), and Medical Officers of Health (MOH) were also part of the evaluation. The insights and feedback from these diverse groups will help in understanding the strengths and areas for improvement of the project.

This evaluation is a crucial step in ensuring the effectiveness and sustainability of the CBR project, as Caritas Valvuthayam continues its mission to improve the lives of children with disabilities and empower communities in the Mannar Diocese.
