A partnership building meeting with environmental management-related stakeholders and Maduroad, Southpar Village Level Environmental adult Group (VLEGs) was organized by Caritas Valvuthayam-Mannar on 27th February 2023 at the auditorium of Caritas Mannar -Valvuthayam under SSEP. Officers from Central Environmental aunthority, Irrigation Department, Department of Wildlife Conservation and Department of Forest Conservation were presented for a healthy discussion with VLEGs. 35 members of Maduroad, Southpar VLEGs were participated in this discussion.
A clear explanation about the services provided by the departments related to environmental management & the challenges they face when implementing the action plans to conserve the environment was given to the participants. With the active participation of VLEG members, the meeting ended up as a healthy discussion & the contacts of the officers were shared among the people.
Both the officers & VLEG members thanked Caritas- Valvuthayam for organizing this partnership building meetings. Officers further stated that it was their pleasure to get introduced to public directly, discuss all the environmental related issues that people face and educated them through clear explanations to mitigate their issues. The members from VLEGs stated in their feedbacks that they were very fortunate to directly meet the relevant environmental management related stakeholders and to know about their services to the society as well as to the environment. They further stated that they will use the knowledge and contact that they gain today to rectify all the environmental related issues in future. The whole meeting was started at 9.00 am and ended at 1.00 pm as a fruitful session to the public as well as to the officers.
