Promoting Healthy Futures: Nutrition Awareness Program for Mothers

On April 8, 2025, Caritas Valvuthayam, with the generous support of Caritas Norway, organized a Nutrition Program for Mothers of Preschool Children at Thoddaveli Preschool. This initiative aimed to raise awareness among caregivers about the importance of balanced nutrition for young children’s growth and development.

 A Practical Approach to Learning

The session was enriched by the presence of a midwife and the Senior Public Health Midwife (SPHM), who led an engaging and interactive cooking demonstration. Through hands-on learning, they explained:

  • Which foods energize the body
  • How nutrition supports physical growth
  • The role of food in preventing diseases

This practical approach allowed mothers to see firsthand how to prepare nutritious meals using locally available ingredients.

 Community Participation

The event saw enthusiastic participation & the participants were:

  • 32 mothers of preschool children
  • Midwife and SPHM
  • Caritas field officer and local volunteer

This collaborative effort emphasized the vital role mothers play in early childhood health and highlighted community-level support systems that contribute to long-term well-being.

Caritas Valvuthayam remains committed to promoting holistic early childhood development through education, nutrition, and empowerment ensuring every child gets a healthy start in life.
