On April 26, 2023, Caritas-Valvuthayam organized a special science seminar physical session for G.C.E Ordinary level students in Mannar Education Zone. The seminar was conducted at Mn/Sivaraja Hindu Vidyalaya’s hall which is the center and easily accessible location for nearly 10 nearby school students and the seminar was supported by the Zonal Education Department in Mannar District. The objective of the seminar was to enhance the students’ understanding and knowledge of science subjects and to motivate them to pursue higher education in science-related fields.
The Science seminar was attended by 92 students from seven schools, namely Mn/Madukkarai GTMS, Mn/Naruvilikkulam RCTMS, Mn/St.Sebastian School (Nanattan village), Mn/Ilakadipitiya RCTMS, Mn/Mavilangeni RCTMS, and Mn/Arippu RCTMS, under the Mannar Education Zone. The seminar was opened with the blessing prayer by Rev. Fr. Arulrajah Croos who delivered special message to the students and encouraged them to pursue their academic goals with dedication and enthusiasm.
The seminar was facilitated by Mr. Panchanathan Karan, Manager of Field Study Center of the Zonal Education Department of Mannar, along with and the resource persons for the seminar Mr. J.E. Krishanthan and Mr. P. Nirosan who are specialized on the science subjects. The resource persons used interactive teaching methods and visual aids to explain complex scientific concepts to the students. The seminar covered a range of topics, including physics, chemistry, and biology, and provided practical demonstrations to help students understand the real-life applications of scientific principles.
The seminar was well-received by the students and I was very much informative learning session. During feedback session, students appreciated that the opportunity was given to them to interact with experts in the field and to gain a deeper understanding of science subjects. Many of the students expressed their desire to pursue higher education in science-related fields.
The Caritas-Valvuthayam Science Seminar for G.C.E Ordinary level students was a resounding success, providing valuable knowledge and motivation to the students of Mannar District. The parents expressed their gratitude to the Zonal Education Department and Valvuthayam Caritas-Korea project for their support in making the seminar possible. They also thanked the resource persons for their excellent presentations and the students for their enthusiastic participation.
